For some years now, we have been asked thousands of questions about how to optimize your chances of getting pregnant. We thought it would be a good idea to share with you a summary of tips and very valuable information on how to optimize your chances of getting pregnant. We have selected, especially for you, the most reliable info and we hope you'll find it very useful for your future family.
1. How long time does it take to get pregnant?
Within a month, only 10% of women get pregnant. 50% get pregnant after 4 to 6 months and 80% within a year. 95% of women should get pregnant within 2 years. After this period of 2 years, if you do not get pregnant after having tried on a regular basis, then we would recommend you to consult your Doctor in order to identify and to discuss why pregnancy has not happened yet.
2. How long time after stopping contraception should I try to get pregnant?
It depends what type of contraception you were on. If it was a "mechanical" contraception such as male condoms, female condoms or spermicide creams then you can try to get pregnant as soon as your next menstrual cycle. If you had an I.U.D. removed then ask for your doctor's advice on when Trying To Conceive. If you were on hormonal contraceptions such as pill, patch, vagina ring or implant, then the common advice is to wait at least three months before TTC. These are usual recommendations. If you experience any other problem such as bleeding or unusual vagina discharges, then please consult your doctor.
3. When is the best time to conceive a baby?
Women are generally fertile 3 days before the ovulation day, the ovulation day and 1 day after the ovulation day. So 5 days in total per cycle. This is an average so consider that you may be fertile one day before and one day after this period so a total of seven days. This period, called "Fertility Period" is the best time to conceive a baby.
4. How to calculate my period of fertility?
Here, we will talk about two main methods to identify your period of fertility. One working for women having very regular cycles: the Fertility Calculator. And the other one for all women having regular cycles or not: the Temperature Chart.
The Fertility Calculator will identify your three next periods of fertility. To use the calculator, simply enter the first day of your last period, your cycle length and click on the 'Calculate' button. Please note that your periods of fertility will be based on regular cycles.

The Temperature Chart is the safest and the most accurate way to identify precisely your ovulation day and your fertility period. And it works among the vast majority of women (95%) regardless of their cycle lengths. You will find following the principles of this approach as well as an empty chart to download that you will be able to use for yourself.
1. How does it work?
In the early stages of your cycle, your temperature will be low (around 36.8°). The day you ovulate, your temperature will progress from 3 to 5 tenths (to 37°.1/37.3°). This day is the ovulation day and the middle of your period of fertility. This higher temperature will sustain until the end of your cycle. Below is a chart example for a 29 days cycle.
2. How and when to take my temperature?
You should take your temperature every morning (one and an half minute) while you are still in bed, calm and relaxing. The best way is the rectal way with the same thermometer. And if possible at the same time every day. If you do not take your temperature on the rectal way then put it firmly under your armpit, hold it for at least two minutes and add 0.5° to the result. Then report your daily result on the Temperature Chart that you can download below.
3. Download an empty temperature chart.
